[CLOSED] Pie Face @ Bugis Village, Singapore
Monday, January 19, 2015
Pie Face, the world’s largest pie chain, has
finally arrived in Singapore from Australia! Established in 2003, the Sydney-headquartered
micro-bakery café is best known for baking all of its gourmet pies from scratch.
The dough of the traditional French puff pastry takes three days to prepare.
The kitchen team is required to fold the special blend of butter to create 48
layers.

These savoury pies come in both regular and mini sizes. There is two ways of having the pies, one is in a cardboard sleeve, so you can
eat them while on the go, second it eat them as "stacks" for those dining in. Stacks
are pies topped with smash, mashed potatoes or peas and gravy [additional $1 each].

Here is some of the pies available in store :)
The regular pies are priced at $4.90 each and the mini pies are priced starting from $3.00 each.
I've tried Chunky Steak Pie, Chicken and Mushroom Pie, and Thai Green Curry Chicken Pie. My favourite is the Chunky Steak Pie, add the ketchup sauce for a more distinct flavour. Thai Green Curry Chicken Pie is pretty good too, you don't really see this type of flavours in pies.

Besides pies, they serve awesome sausage rolls too! I recommend you to try Chicken & Cheese
Sausage Rolls, it is packed with cheese all around and in the middle too.
At Pie Face, patrons can also savour crumbly
cookies, moist cakes and piping hot soups. Other than its array of palatable
pies, Pie Face also serves high-quality coffee. The prices for the coffee start
from $4.00. They are the perfect accompaniment to the pies and a great
perk-me-up to start the mornings right.
Other bites includes the Almond Stick and Cheese Stick. My opinion is that the crust is too thick, making my mouth dry after every bite.

These sweet pies are available at $3.30 each.
During the tasting, I've tried:
· Lemon Pie
- Glistening dome-shaped lemon custard sits on a sweet crust pastry.
Orange rind caps off the pie.
· Pecan
Pie - Resting on a crumbly base, the crunchy pecans are drenched in a
sweet maple sauce.
· Chocolate
Pie - Chocolate mousse with a crisp chocolate shell, encased in a sweet crust pastry.
· Coffee
Mousse Pie - fragrant and creamy soft centred.
My favourite among these four is the Coffee Mousse Pie. The tart crust was slightly harder so expect a little mess while enjoying every bite.
Do check out their first outlet at 313@Somerset and the upcoming one at NEX!
