Beginning of 2017 started off with the phrase ‘New Year, New Me’, and here I am kicking off with a brand new hairdo at Kenjo Salon just in time for my Japan trip too! The salon is conveniently located in Plaza Singapura and is managed by a group of dedicated team and specialists that consist of local and Korean stylists. Upon entering, I was greeted by the sleek interior and friendly staff. Followed by ushering to my seat and picking my drink from the menu list, not forgetting the free wifi!

I entrusted my hair to Justin, Senior Stylist, who has over 7 years of experience in advance cutting, scalp specialty and creative colouring. He did not disappoint when I told him to do as he please with my dull, black hair. I was a little sceptic when Justin wanted to bleach my whole head, but I was rest assured as he will be bleaching it along with Olaplex treatment. Olaplex is like an insurance for my hair that works on a molecular level to reduce hair breakage caused by chemical. Here’s how it works:

Olaplex No.1 Bond Multiplier is mixed with the colouring and bleaching. It rebuilds broken disulfide bonds in the hair and restoring the strength, structure and integrity of the hair before, during and after services.

Olaplex No.2 Bond Perfector is applied on the hair after rising. It aims to pursue that hair perfection in gaining the healthy, strong and shiny hair possible.

Justin used a variety of colours on my hair, for the outer part it’s like a red ombre and the inner part it’s a combination of blue and pink. All in all, I am pleased with the outcome although it took me awhile to get used to such bright colours (it’s my virgin bleach y’all). All my portraits in Japan turned out great because of the pretty colours I have on my hair! Kudos to Justin :)

On top of that I was given Davines’ Minu Shampoo and Conditioner for coloured hair. A little about Davines Group, they started off as a research lab and now producing sustainable high-end hair care products worldwide. It's formula is designed to gently cleanse coloured hair while protecting the colour and keeping it vibrancy for a longer period of time. Here's my review on my coloured hair and treatment I did three weeks ago at CCA Hair Salon. CCA Hair started out in South Korea, a total of seven salons with the main branch in Myeongdong, Seoul.

After consulting Bella, a Korean hair stylist, with the help of DoYeon, she help by being the translator between us. Bella concluded that my hair was too thin for bleaching and will have difficulties absorbing bright dyes. There goes the purple hair that I desired! As long as it's not brown, I'm good. She then added to say she is able to mix a dark red tone and a dark purple tone for me.

Bella goes on to test if my hair is able to absorb the colour before applying to my whole head. Thankfully after 30minutes, it absorbed! So after the whole process of dying is over, it is followed by the treatment. Plus points: Coffee and tea are served at the salon as well, I suggest ordering first when you are being asked as it can get busy later and they may not ask again. Wi-Fi are also available, refer to the password at the bottom of the drinks menu.

The treatment consist of more than one solutions and multiple trips to washing area, depending on the type of treatment. My treatment includes Hahonico and Reminessance Mucota products as shown below. After the treatment, my hair condition improved from slightly fizzy with tangles to soft, smooth and healthy looking.

Bella ended off with styling it with temporary big curls, kind of liking the perm than the colour. I would say the colour were pretty close to brown and after a few weeks, the colours still stays but it wasn’t prominent. Hence, would really recommend the louder colours if your hair is suitable.
