Seasonal Tastes Dinner Buffet @ The Westin Singapore | Downtown, Singapore

Friday, March 04, 2016

Seasonal Tastes is an international cuisine buffet spread overlooking the city skyline, through the floor-to-ceiling windows at level 32 of The Westin Singapore. It is the hotel's signature dining venue which offers a live interactive kitchen concept to provide a truly personalised epicurean experience amongst the restaurants in Marina Bay district.

It has become a habit for me to glance through the dessert table before digging in on the savouries. I guess it keeps me in check for how much space I should save haahaa! So first off, the circular desert table consist of seven little parts – mango pudding in-a-jar, chocolate fondue fountain and chocolates, coconut tarts, Alfredo ice cream, Nonya (Peranakan) kuehs, green bean soup and cakes. Look out for the little brown cakes, mini profiteroles filled with coffee aroma and it is very addictive.

Came upon some really interesting flavours for Alfredo ice cream such as Avocado Gelato and Blood Orange Sorbet. I would say Avocado Gelato is an acquired taste, not very into it though.

The start of the spread started with the lightest, salads, parma hams and cheese. Followed by the crustacean section with lobster, prawns and all the oyster lovers rejoice with the freshly shucked oyster station.

One of the highlight for the dinner buffet would be the grill section, with more than 6 selection to choose from. During our conversations over the meal, I found out that Moo Ping is a must try. Sadly I was too full to stuff anymore food. Nevertheless, the satays and beef steak were great. It slipped my mind to requesting for medium rare for the steak and it came well done, decent still.

The finale of the spread is the noodles station which includes laska, chicken broth and seafood broth. The chicken broth is light and pretty decent in my opinion. On the other hand, the unnoticeable station situated in the centre towards the back were the one I have looking for at all buffet restaurants. Sashimi and the always-going-to-give-it-a-miss yummy sushi during buffets because of the carbs. Whether the buffet is good, I always go for how the sashimi tasted, well Seasonal Tastes passed!
