What I love about Pies & Coffee is that their outlets pulls off a cosy atmosphere as well as an amiable vibe, great place for a catch-up and relaxation. They have been serving an array of buttery, shortcrust pastries and robust coffee blends, since 2011. Now with even more piping hot meals, brining you more choices beyond just pies.

Let's start with some cheesy goodness and one of my favourite from the lot, Croque Monsieur | $14.90 - the olive-accented focaccia is sandwiched with a variety of turkey ham and garlic turkey, layered with béchamel sauce, mozzarella cheese and pesto sauce. This hearty meal is served with side salad too. Simply irresistible for me! However, it can be a little dry.

Another gratifying meal, Lobster Bisque Baked Rice | $14.90 - the lobster bisque sauce is made from fresh flower crab, prawn and slipper lobster jus. Even the vegetables such as onions, mixed herbs, carrots and celeries are stirred in a prawn stock before pouring over the charbroiled long-grain rice. No wonder it takes hours to carefully prepare this dish. Loving the sweet note from the crustaceans.

Moving on the savoury hot pies, served alongside mashed potato and mixed salad. Wagyu Beef Cheek | $11.90 - beef cubes stuffed in short crust pastry. Beef cheek is a tough cut and rather lean, therefore if it is not cooked perfectly, the meat can be slightly tougher than usual.

If you are don’t fancy beef, try their Barbecue Chicken Pie in Beetroot Crust | $11.90 - the beetroot short crust pastry is filled with chunky chicken mixed in classic American sweet and smoky barbecue sauce. This is quite a sweet dish and those who doesn't have a sweet tooth may not like it, but I’ll choose this over the other two. Lastly, Charcoal Crust Curry Chicken Pie | $11.20 - spicy curry chicken cubes enveloped in charcoal crust. Can’t tell the taste apart for the original crust and the coloured ones.

Pot pie or crusty bread bowl is always a hit especially serving it with soup, New England Clam Chowder Soup | $9.20 - I don’t know about you but I love my clam chowder soup rich and creamy. The soup is packed with white clams, onions, carrots, potatoes, celeries and mixed herbs. Slowly cooked for two hours to get to the ideal texture, and the comforting soup is served.

Try it with the European-inspired creation, Hungarian Beef Goulash | $14.50 - stewed for more than five hours, even the beef turns out tender and bursting with flavour. It’s a little too heavy for me, otherwise it’s decent. Capping off the last dish with Curry Chicken Pot Pie | $14.50 - another way of serving curry chicken that stands out is by serving it with the whole drumstick sticking out like this! Bread and curry always complement each other seamlessly, indeed the buttery and flaky bread adds the extra touch to this local favourite dish.

No meal can be completed without dessert(s). Sticky Date Cake | $7.90 (available in whole loaves at $38) - with homemade toffee sauce drizzled over the dates finely chopped loaf cake, and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s a hit to my sweet tooth!

As Christmas is nearing, Pies & Coffee have also come up with a range of cookies. Featuring here is Noel's Granny Oats Cookies - not your soft and chewy cookies, this is packed with crisp and every bites is filled with bits of oats. The closest description would probably be similar to oatmeal cookies?
