Manhattan Fish Market: Beefier Catch @ Marina Square, Singapore
Monday, May 11, 2015
Up to something fishy at Manhattan Fish Market as they reel up a beefier catch with their signature of either fish or prawns alongside the beef
dishes.
Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter (Dory) [$38.95] - serves up generous portions of hand battered fish fillets,
oysters and calamari. The highlight is the Manhattan Flaming Prawns, brought to
full flavour when our Sea-cret Agents flame right before your eyes! You can't go wrong with their all time best seller plus it is also my favourite dish at MFM. Best shared with 2-3 pax, and you could even could your choice of fish now!
Passionate Peach [$6.00] (yellow)- a delightful Chamomile tea and
lemongrass infusion, perked up with the fruity fragrance of peach and
passionfruit.
Happiness Infusion [$6.00] (red) - infused with Earl Grey tea with
lemongrass, with a hint of sweetness of strawberry and lychee.
Gummy Bear [$5.50] - the exciting flavours of Curacao and
tropical fruit mix is guaranteed to liven up your senses.
Their new range of drinks are not only this! Overall, it is a refreshing and fizzy drink with lots of vibrant colours, sure to pike up your mood.

Oyster Roulette [$7.95] - 1 of the 4 poached oyster shooters
comes with an extra shot of spiciness, guaranteed to heat up your party. Time
for a game of roulette with your friends haa! Sadly, we could not figure which
is the spicier one, as the spicy tolerance of each individual is different.
Onion Glory [$7.95] - dig into a treasure trove of crispy
battered onion strips served with an Onion Glory Dip. Warning: it can get pretty
addictive.
Handmade Beef Patty & Bouillabaisse [$16.95] - surrounded by a sea of flavourful curry bouillabaisse filled
with mussels, squids and dory fish. Together with the handmade beef patty which
is marinated with oregano, rosemary, garlic and onion on an oregano bun. One of the better beef combination to my liking :) It is like a appetiser with main, best of both world at one pricing.
Handmade Beef Patty & Tempura Prawns Burger [$15.95] - an epic creations bringing you spiced and tangy flavours of
oceans from the prawns and the hearty flavours of land from the handmade beef. Topped
with melted cheese and tomatoes with a side of chips. I personally find it too huge to have it together in one bite, it may get messy.
Oven Baked Beef Rib & Grilled Ocean Perch [$25.95] - the 12 hours hearty oven-baked beef ribs weigh in at about 8oz with each serving, marinated with rosemary, thyme,
oregano, garlic and French mustard. Pairing with
grilled-to-perfection ocean perch resting on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes
and coupled with fresh mesclun salad on the side. Accompanied by homemade brown
sauce with a hint of black pepper.
Upon knowing that the beef is oven-baked for 12 hours, I am quite disappointed that the meat isn't soft to the point where you can have it easily pulled away from the bone.

Oven Baked Beef Rib & Flaming Prawns [$23.95] - the beef ribs, marinated and oven baked for 12 hours and drizzled with homemade brown sauce, pairing with MFM’s signature flaming prawns, gloriously flamed for extra-caramelized sweetness. Similarly, served in a bed of creamy mashed potatoes and coupled with fresh mesclun salad on the side.
Both oven-baked rib's mashed potatoes are a major turn off, instead of having it served creamy, it was hard and dry. Adding on, the beef rib is lacking consistency for sure!
Manhattan Mud Pie [$5.95] - MFM very own recipe which contains a gooey icy chocolate ice-cream, drizzled with rich chocolate
syrup and topped with oreo chocolate crust. Not to shout about but it may probably be the better one out of the three served that night.
Sizzling Banana Fritters with Ice-cream [$7.95] - hot and crispy banana fritters in (before pouring the) sizzling coconut cream
topped with chocolate ice-cream.
The shot after the pouring the coconut cream. To justify the dessert, a better quality of chocolate ice-cream would be much delighted.
Strawberry Flamin-Go [$4.95] - mango pudding and fresh strawberries are drizzled liberally
with chocolate sauce and then topped with flamed marshmallows. With the marshmallows being flamed for about 2 seconds only, I wondered if it does make any difference. Likewise, the not-so-good quality of the chocolate sauce kind of ruin the dessert, not the best combination of having mangoes with chocolate too though.
Overall, I would preferred the Handmade Beef Patty over the Oven Baked Beef Rib any time. Desserts wise, there are room for improvements. If you want to check MFM beefier catch, it will only be available till 31 May 2015, while stock last.
