Sakura International Buffet Restaurant: Crab Feast @ Downtown East | Pasir Ris, Singapore
Monday, April 20, 2015
Sakura International Buffet is bringing
back its highly anticipated crab buffet featuring the mouth-watering
Charcoal-grilled King Crab and Snow Crab (Legs)! It's quite a self-explanatory for their well known establishment in Singapore, plus it's halal certified. The crab buffet is only
available for brunch and dinner only and it will only be for a limited time
only. Be spoilt for choice with their irresistible buffet spread :)
The star of the night of the Crab Feast! That's right, the free flow of Charcoal-grilled King Crab and Snow Crab (Legs) for a price of S$31.90++ (full pricing details at the end of the post).
Waiting time for these could be quite a misery. Partly because it takes longer to charcoal-grilled. I guess you couldn't get the best consistency when there's a long pile of clips waiting to be served, therefore the crab meat wasn't the best and could be a little tough and salty.
Along side the charcoal-grilled crabs, there are also a section for Teppanyaki such as Argentinian Red Shrimp, Salmon and Beef Bulgogi.

I usually like to start the buffet at the cold dishes section like the sushi, sashimi and soba. I like how efficient they top up the dishes, it's barely empty. Their mentai sushi are worth a try :)
Along side the Japanese counter, we have the cold seafood, and they are fresh (I could only say so for the prawns, as I didn't try the others).
Located at the isolated corner, we have the Salad Bar. It's doesn't appetize enough to try them haa!
Something worth looking forward is their DIY Laksa station! It's quite a pleaser around our table, though I'm not a fan of it. It can be comparable to those in hawkers.
Moving on to the Western counter, here we have the Bruschetta, BBQ Chicken and Pizzas.
This is typically a section missed by many, because it'll fill their stomach faster.
I love Chawanmushi and it's normally my first few go-to dish. The one at Sakura's disappoints me. Apart from Chawanmushi, they have soups like Mocked Shark Fin's Soup too.
The Dim Sum counter encompasses of Chicken Siu Mai, Baos and Lou Mai Gai (Steamed
Glutinous Rice with Chicken).
DIY Kueh Pie Tee counter
The crispy base ain't crispy and is likely soggy, freshness quality is not there.
Well at least the desserts section made up for the hits and misses. DIY waffle station, I love how they set aside the peanut butter spread for the kiddo, like those old-school waffles you get from bakeries.
Or you could choose to top it with ice cream! Nothing fancy about these flavours though - Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, Salted Caramel and Hokkaido Milk.
More desserts and fruits ranging from puffs, cakes, cupcakes and jellies.
Am happy to see that Sakura carry the Jelly from Chabuton, sadly it ain't chilled enough. Next the puffs, besides the harden puffs, D24 Durian Puffs is quite the bomb.
Ending with these cute little cupcakes (Chocolate and Red Velvet) and last but not least the local Asian desserts such as Cheng Teng, Mango Sago, Yam Paste and Durian Pengat.
The Durian Pengat is a must try!! Thick and creamy, this is the real deal. I had like two servings of this with #LeKhakis.
Overall I think it's a decent buffet (especially with the Crab Feast going-on), with nothing fantastic to shout about. For more information about their promotion, check out Sakura's Facebook Page.
