1 Market shouldn't sounds foreign to you, if so head over to read my full post here.
In the special month of September, 1 Market is bringing you
another all-time favourite thematic fair, Eat-all-you-can Crab Extravaganza.
Featuring crabs prepared in four themes, Asian wok-fried, cold seafood, salad
and Japanese. It includes unlimited servings of flower crab, snow king crab,
Salted Egg Crab and Black Pepper Crab.
Savour the Flower Crab and Snow King Crab displayed over the cold
seafood counter, together with other cold crustaceans.
The feast
also includes the following line-up (which will be rotated weekly):
Crabmeat with Avocado Salad - chunks of
crabmeat are tossed with avocado. The creamy and buttery texture of the super
fruit complements the delicate softness of the crabmeat. Its grassy flavour
marries well with the sweet taste of the meat too.
Glass Noodle Crabmeat Salad with Lime Leaves - the subtle taste of the glass noodle is enlivened by the tang of the lime leaves. Light and refreshing, this makes a delightful starter.
Two of my favourite from the lot (besides the physical crabs):
Oden Hotpot Soup with Crab Stick (left) - this hotpot is bound to invigorate senses. The oden hotpot features crabmeat and a variety of fish cake in konbu soup base.
Softshell Crab Maki (right) - this classic sushi will whisk one away to Japan. The crispy softshell crab provides an enticing bite that contrasts with the soft rice. The slightly salty taste of the crab is tempered by the sweetness of the rice too.
Not forgetting the free flow of Salted Egg Crab and Black Pepper Crab over the hot sections. These dishes follow Chef Wan’s personal recipes, which he spent years experimenting and perfecting.
I would usually go for Salted Egg Crab but I think their Black Pepper Crab was cooked better. As the Salted Egg Crab lacks the pungent flavour of salted egg.
Note that the buffet spread are being rotated weekly so that you won't get bored of the variety. Hence, the noodles station (Prawn Wanton Noodle Soup) and the Hainanese Chicken Rice are both relative new from my previous visit.
