Sakura International Buffet Restaurant @ Yio Chu Kang, Singapore

Sunday, February 08, 2015

Sakura International Buffet at Yio Chu Kang has a revamped storefront and brand image, together with a brand new menu. Experience the best of what Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Thailand, the US, France and Singapore have to offer, all at one price, in one place.

*Dinner Special* Local: Boston Lobster & Argentine Red Prawn Hokkien Mee - a new twist on a beloved favourite, Hokkien Mee. Sprawled on a bed of al dente noodles is a glorious lobster imported from Boston.
Love how the noodles have the wok-infused flavours. Both the lobster and prawn are pretty fresh and succulent, eat till your heart's content.

*Dinner Special* Local: Hiroshima Oyster Omelette - look at the soft and juicy oysters from Hiroshima, Japan. It does not have the fishy smell, makes eating it a joy with the chilli and omelette.

Local: Shrimp Paste Chicken and Chicken Satay - the chicken were very yummy, the only concern is the food displayed isn't warm.

Local: DIY Noodles Station - Laksa and Yong Tau Foo
Other local dishes includes: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Otah Otah and Prawn Hokkien Mee.

Thailand: Thai Beancurd and Fish Cake - expect spicy flavours and exotic palates over at this counter.
Other Thai dishes includes: Pinapple Fried Rice, Green Curry Chicken and Papaya Salad.

*Dinner Special* Hong Kong: Freshly Baked Egg Tart with Bird’s Nest - Sink your teeth into the flaky, light and buttery crust with creamy egg custard filling and bird nest. I'm usually not an egg tart person, and it would be rare if I have more than one serving. Especially the piping hot ones right out from the oven!

*Dinner Special* Hong Kong: Molten Salted Egg Yolk Bun / Liu Sha Bao - oozing liu sha from the buns! Yumms!!
Hong Kong: Assorted Dim Sum - buffet would be a major let-down if the food are not kept warm.

USA: Assorted Fried Finger Food - what is the American culture without fast food. From fries to fish fingers.
Other USA dishes includes: Nachos with Hot Cheese Sauce, Chicken Popcorn, BBQ Hotdog, Meatballs in Tomato Sauce and Ice-cream Station.

*Dinner Special* France: Salad Bar and Seafood Station - Green Mussel and Whelk a la Bourguignonne.
The key factor to seafood is the freshness, and that is what you'll find in Sakura.

*Dinner Special* France: Salad Bar and Seafood Station - Boiled Prawns and Salad Bar

Italy: Pasta Station - StationVongule (White Clam with Mushroom Cream Sauce), Bolognaise (Minced Beef and Tomota) and Seafood Maarinara (Shrimp and Clam with Tomato Sauce), with your choice of Spaghetti and Penne.
Italy: Pizza Station - includes Hawaiian Pizza, Bread Bowl and Lasagne.
I skipped this counter as there was too much carbs involved haa!

Japan: Assorted Sushi and Sashimi
*Dinner Special*  Shashimi includes: Salmon and Sweet Shrimp, Argentine Red Prawns, Salmon Belly, Tataki Bonito and Oyster with Wafu Dressing.

Other Japanese dishes includes: Teriyaki Chicken, Tempura, Yakitori and Garlic Fried Rice.

Japan: Cold Dishes - this counter is highly miss by many, partly because of the unsightly lightings.

Japan: Shabu Shabu - the pots are situated around the tables for sharing in groups of 2 to 4 pax.
Ingredients includes: Chicken, Dory Fish Fillet and Assorted Greens.*Dinner Special* Hiroshimi Oyster, Sliced Beef and Argentine Prawns.
